The Coat

So many beautiful scraps were donated by the Instagram community (more people posted scraps than filled in surveys) that I wanted to find a way to use them as part of a final, remade garment that embodies all the elements of this research journey. I found a second-hand coat and then chose materials that matched its colour and tone. The scraps were in irregular shapes so I cut and pressed them and then hand stitched each one onto the coat.

This coat holds the participation grown from the Instavention on Instagram. It shows the connection makers have to their materials and a deep, analogue connection fostered through a digital medium.
